Bible Studies & Training
Through regular reading of the Scriptures and sharing of religious experiences we listen to God and deepen our understanding of Christ’s teaching. Discipleship and training programmes are thus held at the Cathedral throughout the year, especially during Lent and Advent.
Fundraising & Hospitality
As part of stewardship and discipleship the congregation plays a vital role in supporting the work of the Church in Rockhampton. Various fundraisers are held each year, often in the context of hospitality involving food, fellowship and fun. Sausage sizzle, fetes and trivia nights are among some of the popular fundraisers which help create links with the community we seek to serve in God’s name.
Pastoral Care
The Pastoral Care Team meets regularly to plan, listen to one another and pray together. At least one of the meetings each year is dedicated to exploring new ways of offering pastoral care to congregation members. Sometimes this includes input from a guest speaker. The team also endeavours to look out for those in need and help coordinate the Cathedral’s Emergency Food Relief scheme. Hand quilted quilts are also given to people as a response to prayer and a reminder that God is always with us in times of joy and sadness.
(Under COVID-19, meetings have been suspended and Pastoral Care group leaders provide pastoral support to members of the congregations via phone, Zoom, etc).
Fabric
The Parish Council is responsible for the care and maintenance of our historic buildings, working in partnership with the Cathedral Chapter made of lay and clerical Canons.
Liturgy & Music
St Paul’s has a very rich tradition of choral music, evident at liturgical services, and we also enjoy contemporary genres of worship music in our family services. We welcome anyone people of all ages and please do get in touch if you think this ministry may be for you. You can opt just to play a musical instrument with us once a month during Sunday worship at the 9.30am service. The congregation are very appreciative of music be it guitar, flute or other types.
